One Million
The ever elusive one million.
One million followers.
One million views.
One million dollars.
Having 1M followers is cool until you realize platforms like Instagram and Facebook throttle your social reach. If you could post and reach 1M for free, why would you spend money on ads?
Gaining 1M views is cool until you realize that the pay rate for 1M isn’t much. Look at the TikTok and YouTube payout for 1M views. You need to compound that to the tune of multi millions to make a living.
Between us, one million dollars isn’t a lot of money. Trust me. In the grand scheme of things, you need more than $1M due to inflation, volatile markets, etc. Making a million and HAVING a liquid million, post tax, is different.
One thing that isn’t discussed enough is the power of organic impressions. I’ll put myself on the chopping block. By the end of the year, I will have garnered over 1 million organic impressions on X, formerly known as Twitter. How did this happen and why?
I won’t gate-keep any insights...
1) Post at least once a day.
2) Find your voice.
3) Contribute to a community & stick with it.
4) Become a respected leader in a niche industry.
5) Provide value.
6) Be authentic.
7) Make your posts creative.
8) Stay consistent and speak from a place of passion.
9) Dare to be different.
10) Use various outputs such as video, photo, and text.
11) Never underestimate the power of building a personal brand.
12) Cross promote between your company as well as your personal brand.
People pay for insights like this, but this is 2024. We are organic and open source. 🔥
Impressions can increase engagement and also make brand deals easier to come by. This is the bread and butter for personal brands. User generated content pays, but only if you can activate your audience. But people don’t like to be sold to. However, they will listen to recommendations. Once I crack 1M, I will be able to monetize my personal brand in new ways. So, yes, 1M as a benchmark still matters, even if it varies based on the context. Get your first million.
